The German engineers who were brought in built Villas to house themselves and their families. When the damn was complete these Villas passed into local hands. I was given an opportunity to purchase one and refurbish it to a high standard. When I saw the charm and character of the property as well as the size of the interior, the land and development potential, I knew this was an opportunity not to be missed.Let me tell you how the property stands now. The main villa is built over three levels in the Bulgarian style, allowing it to be both warm in winter and cool in summer. The property boasts 4 double bedrooms, a family bathroom, a separate wet room, 3 reception rooms and a spacious and well-equipped kitchen.Separating the main villa from the apartment is one of my favourite parts of the house: a covered outside kitchen, perfect for barbeques and outside dining. To the rear is a 2-storey barn, currently used as a general and wood store, but ripe for further development.What sets this place apart is the feeling of space and light, both inside and out. You can’t help but fall in love with the wood burning stoves for cold winter nights, the outdoor kitchen, barbecue and the vegetable patch for outdoor entertaining along with the swimming pool for those hot summer days.Uniquely, this property isn’t in a development, it’s not on the usual tourist trails and the village is populated entirely by friendly locals.  This is an undiscovered paradise for people who love the outdoors. Firstly, the village itself boasts a busy local shop. Around the village are stunning hills perfect for cycling, walking and rock climbing. And then there is the reservoir which is an up and coming location for water sports, with new restaurants springing up on its edges on a regular basis and still supporting the huge number of fishermen who use it. Further a field, the historic former capital of Bulgaria; Veliko Turnovo 45 minutes drive away. Sofia and the gold coast are approximately 2 hours away in either direction.This property could be many things; at the moment it is a permanent residence and holiday home for my family and me. We have previously rented it out and it could provide a fantastic rental yield.
