Sofia is the Bulgarian city with best investment profile

In 2018 Bulgaria’s capital Sofia attracted foreign investments to the tune of EUR 13 billion, or EUR 9.800 per person, which was three times the country average, a report of Sofia Investment Agency shows. Sofia is among the leading Bulgarian cities in terms of EU funds absorption.

In the first half of 2019, this city received EUR 2.1 billion from the EU. The Bulgarian capital generates 40% of Bulgaria’s gross domestic product. This is the Bulgarian city with the lowest unemployment (2.1%) and record-high employment among the active population (76%). Sofia attracts economically active and highly qualified people. 51% of the people living in Sofia have a university degree. That is why wages in Sofia are 38% higher than the country average.
